Bill Shires
I am a lifelong resident of Franklin County. I attended Ferrum Junior College and East Tennessee State University obtaining a
B. S. Degree in Health Education. I served for two years in the
U. S. Navy. While growing up in Franklin County during the late 1950’s and early 1960’s I floated the Roanoke River as the early Smith Mountain Dam site preparation was being done. Then later I worked on the actual dam project as a member of a survey crew.
After graduating from college I retired after 27 years in the Environmental Health division of the Virginia Department of Health. Most of this time was spent working in Franklin and the surrounding counties.
I currently live with my wife Carolyn in The Waterfront. Carolyn is also a lifelong resident of Franklin County and we are constantly amazed at how the lake has caused such change and how wonderful a lifestyle the lake offers.
I have been a Realtor for nearly 15 years, all of it with Prudential Waterfront Properties. For most of these years I have been a recipient of awards recognizing sales achievement from The Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors and from Prudential Real Estate. I want to thank all the wonderful clients I have worked for over the years who have made it so enjoyable achieving this success.
