Golf at Smith Mountain Lake isn't restricted to private clubs. The Willard
Companies also recently purchased The Westlake Golf and Country Club, a semiprivate
course.
At 6,511 yards, The Westlake isn't frustratingly long, but it's not a pushover, either.
The rolling course opens with a relatively easy par 4 and par 3 before the combination
of tight, tree-lined fairways, double doglegs and downhill tee shots conspire to keep your
score in check.
