Smith Mountain Lake is located in the foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains between Roanoke, Lynchburg, Bedford and Rocky Mount. With an altitude of 800 feet, Smith Mountain Lake has 500 miles of shoreline, 22,000 acres, and a 3,100-foot strip airport. Recreation includes golf, tennis, all water sports, croquet, horseback riding, walking trails and some of the best fishing in the Middle Atlantic. In part due to its excellent water quality, the lake has held state-record-sized striped bass nearing 50 pounds.

Our central location, approximately midway between the Northeast and the Southeast, is less than a day's drive from Maine or Florida. The easy commute from Roanoke, the capital of the Blue Ridge, allows numerous individuals and families to choose the lake as their permanent residence.
