Pete Roberts
Peter (Pete) Roberts was born and raised in western New York. The pastoral farm lands and laid back lifestyle from his upbringing were exactly what he was looking for when he relocated to Smith Mountain Lake in 2004.
Pete is married to his middle school sweetheart, Donna, and has been for 37 years. The two raised three sons who have since provided him with three terrific daughters-in-law, and three grand children. His sons are spread from Thomasville, GA, to Chapel Hill, NC and on to Asheville, NC. But living on Smith Mountain Lake gives his ever-growing family the opportunity and ideal location to come together to enjoy each others company along with the amenities provided by lake living.
Pete answered the call and joined the Army where he served our country from 1966 to 1968. Upon completion of his tour, Pete enrolled at the State University of New York (S.U.N.Y) at Buffalo, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy. He later began work on his Masters of Business Administration at the Rochester Institute of Technology, graduating with an MBA concentrating in Marketing and Finance.
After a brief stint as a retail and hospital pharmacist, Pete joined Eli Lilly and Company, where he worked for 32 years, working his way from field sales with territories in New York and North Carolina, up to national sales manager covering the lower 48 states. The upward mobility necessitated numerous moves that brought the Roberts’ to High Point, North Carolina, not once but twice. Because of the moves, Pete gained an appreciation for the real estate profession, and has had a North Carolina Brokers License for 18 years. More importantly, the proximity of High Point afforded him and his family many opportunities to visit and vacation on Smith Mountain Lake.
Though each trip saw the family stay on a new part of the lake, and various experiences were had, such as cliff jumping, a striper feeding frenzy down by the damn, and watching his kids one by one learn to slalom, there was always one constant: Pete’s desire and dream of buying property on the lake would get stronger. Finally, after 20 years of talking about buying, visiting, and more talking, Pete and Donna secured their piece of “paradise” in 2004. The couple lived at the lake part time while both put a period at the end of their careers, and in 2006, the two moved in full time at The Waters Edge, where they currently reside with their two dogs, Bonnie and Clyde.
Thanks to his experiences, background, easy going nature, and the support team and resources available at Prudential Waterfront Properties, Pete is confident that he can help you realize your dreams too.
